Alabama Adoption Law

Alabama Custody and Visitation Law

Alabama courts use sexual orientation to deny, restrict or modify custody and visitation. There are no reported or published opinions dealing with transgender parents or same-sex co-parents.

Alabama Donor Insemination Law

There is no provision in Alabama law on donor insemination performed on an unmarried woman.

Alabama School Law

Alabama law does not address school issues relating to sexual orientation or gender identity.

Alabama Surrogacy Law

Alabama law does not directly address surrogacy, but at least one court has acknowledged the parental rights of non-biological participants in a surrogacy arrangement. The issue of surrogacy agreements involving lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) individuals has not yet been considered by the courts.

Alaska Adoption Law

Alaska Custody and Visitation Law

Alaska courts typically will not consider a parent’s sexual orientation in custody and visitation determinations unless it is shown to adversely affect or harm the child(ren). There have been no cases dealing with transgender parents or same-sex co-parents

Alaska Donor Insemination Law

There is no provision in Alaska law on donor insemination performed on an unmarried woman.
