Comprehensive Guide to LGBT Campus Group Activism
By Marion Cory, former HRC Foundation Intern
College students across the nation are working for social and political change and forging their own paths towards a more LGBT-welcoming society. The students of this generation have become integral members of the LGBT movement by creating real change on their campuses and extending that into their communities and on to the entire country.
Taking that first step to build an activist group on your campus can be difficult and full of both uncertainties and obstacles. This guide will provide students with a variety of tools and strategies to help you engage different communities and begin transforming apathy into activism.
This guide is by no means exhaustive. If you have a story or example you think should be included, tell us about it! Also, if you have any suggestions or feedback about the guide, please email campus@hrc.org.
